About East Kazakhstan region Akimat

The oblast is located in the east of the republic with the area of 283,33 ths sq.km as of January 2012. The oblast center is Usk-Kamenogorsk city. The distance from Usk-Kamenogorsk to Astana – 1038 km.There are 15 regions, 10 towns, 3 villages and 786 rural built-up areas.

The oblast is a developed industrial and agrarian region in the country, though its share in industrial production in the republic is relatively low  (5,4%, 8-th place). Meanwhile its share in manufacturing industry of the republic is 11,8%. Apart from dominating industry – non-ferrous metallurgy the region is represented by enterprises of machine engineering, energy, chemical and wood processing, light and food industries and production of construction materials.

Danial Akhmetov was born on June 15, 1954.

In 1976 he graduated from Pavlodar Industrial Institute (S.Toraygyrov Pavlodar State University).

Doctor of Economic Sciences, Academician.

2001 - 2003 - Akim of Pavlodar Region.

2003 - 2007 - Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2007 - 2009 - Defence Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

December 2010 – head of the company in the field of environmental energy.

February 1, 2012 - Member of the Board (Minister) of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

November 2014 - Akim of East Kazakhstan Region.
