Sanzhar Zharkeshov appointed vice minister of ecology, geology and natural resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan

By a resolution of the Government, Sanzhar Zharkeshov was appointed vice minister of ecology, geology and natural resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Sanzhar Zharkeshov will be in charge of geology at the department.

Sanzhar Zharkeshov was born Oct. 24, 1986, in the Karaganda region. In 2009, he graduated from the Kazakh University of Economics, Finance and International Trade with a degree in Finance, in 2010 from the University of Texas at Austin (USA) with a degree in Oil and Gas Engineering.

He began his career in 2008 as a research engineer at the Center for Petroleum and Geosystem Engineering in Austin, Texas (USA), where he worked until 2010.

In 2010-2016 he worked at ExxonMobile Corporation as a drilling engineer in the states of California, Colorado and Texas (USA), a senior drilling engineer in Iraq, a chief drilling engineer in Russia (Sakhalin Island), and a senior design engineer in Atyrau.

In 2016-2018, he was the head of Field Supervisors and Lead Drilling Engineer at Merlin ERD in Perth, Scotland.

From March 2018, he has worked as a management consultant and global expert in the oil industry at McKinsey and Company, London, UK.
