By new academic year, Government will provide computers to 500 thousand students from most needy families

At a selector government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, preparations for the beginning of the new 2020-2021 academic year were considered.

Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov, Acting Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry Bagdat Mussin, Akims of the West Kazakhstan region Gali Iskaliyev, North Kazakhstan region – Kumar Aksakalov, Karaganda region – Zhenis Kassymbek.

In the 2020-2021 academic year, more than 3.3 million people will study at 7,391 schools in Kazakhstan, including in the 1st grade – more than 396 thousand children. Under the current conditions, the first quarter of the academic year will be held in a distance format. The traditional teaching format remains only in small-format schools, as well as in the "duty" classes of elementary school, with strict observance of all sanitary standards.

The head of government instructed to finalize the entire training methodology and by Aug. 20, 2020, organize a republican parent meeting online with detailed information about the upcoming educational process.

“The government will ensure the transfer of about 500 thousand computers for use by children from the most needy families. Akimats will additionally work out the issue of providing computer equipment at the local level,” Mamin said.

The prime minister instructed the Ministry of Education and Science, together with akimats, until Aug. 25, 2020, to ensure that students and teachers are fully prepared for the remote start of the school year, conduct appropriate training for teachers, and prepare the necessary content in full on Internet platforms and television.

The issue of textbooks will be resolved by Aug. 25. All paper versions of textbooks must be accompanied by electronic formats posted in the public domain.

The Ministry of Digital Development, together with akimats and operators, was instructed to ensure the availability and sustainability of educational resources, the quality and speed of the Internet in settlements.

Akimats and the Ministry of Healthcare have been instructed to take all the necessary measures to comply with strict sanitary and epidemiological standards in small schools and "duty" classes of primary schools, in which training will take place in a traditional full-time format.
