Zero growth in prices for socially significant food products recorded in Kazakhstan for second week in a row

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin held a meeting in the Digital Office of the Government with the participation of heads of central state bodies and regional akims on the regulation of prices for socially significant food products.

Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Yerzhan Kazanbayev, Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev, Chair of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition Serik Zhumangarin, Akims of Almaty Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Shymkent — Murat Aytenov, Turkistan region — Umirzak Shukeyev, Almaty region — Amandyk Batalov and others reported on the current situation and work carried out.

Over the past week in Kazakhstan, the overall price growth index for socially significant food products amounted to 0.0%. Due to the measures taken, the prices for potatoes (-0.4%), onions (-1.3%) and carrots (-2%) decreased for the second week in a row. During the week, a decrease in the growth rate of prices for cabbage was also recorded — down to 0.1%.

Financing of the reverse scheme in the regions reached 47.9 billion tenge. The target level is achieved by 95.7%. Effective work on the reverse scheme is noted in Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent, Almaty, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, North Kazakhstan and Turkistan regions.

Over the past week, the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition, on the basis of anticompetitive concerted actions to set prices, launched an investigation into 7 poultry farms selling chicken eggs in Akmola, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan and Karaganda regions.

12 notifications on the presence of signs of price collusion and the use of different prices were sent to the subjects of the market for chicken eggs, poultry and sugar.

One act of antimonopoly compliance was concluded with a wholesale supplier of the East Kazakhstan region. In general, 140 acts of antimonopoly compliance were concluded in the republic with manufacturers, wholesale suppliers and retail chains.

The Prime Minister instructed the central state and local executive bodies to continue work to stabilize and reduce prices for socially significant food products, as well as curb the overall inflation rate within 8.5%.

Akimats of the regions were instructed to ensure that the financing under the reverse scheme, a five-month supply of foodstuffs, reaches the recommended volumes, and to organize the conclusion of forward contracts between retail chains and manufacturers in a timely manner.
