Sanitary and epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan improving

At the government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country was considered.

The new Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Serikkali Brekeshev took the oath of a civil servant.

Minister of Healthcare Alexey Tsoy reported that the sanitary and epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan is improving. The reproductive index of the virus is 0.87. The workload of infectious and intensive care beds decreased to 35%.

57 hospitals that worked as infectious diseases have been transferred to the standard profile of receiving patients without coronavirus.

The Turkistan region is in the green zone in terms of the spread of coronavirus, the East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, North Kazakhstan and West Kazakhstan regions are in the yellow zone. The remaining 11 regions are in the red zone.

To date, about 7.1 million people have been vaccinated with the first component, 6 million people — the second component.

The Head of Government noted the need to strengthen work to increase vaccination coverage in West Kazakhstan and Mangystau regions.

Askar Mamin stressed that the main task now is a steady decrease in the incidence rate in the regions located in the red zone. For this, the sanitary and epidemiological situation should be under constant control, especially in the cities of Almaty, Nur-Sultan, Shymkent, Karaganda, Pavlodar, Akmola regions.

The Head of Government instructed to keep under special control the observance of sanitary standards in educational organizations.
