Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov launch three projects in automotive industry 

Today in Kostanay, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov held negotiations and launched the implementation in Kazakhstan of three joint projects in the automotive industry for 261 billion tenge of investment: the construction of factories for the production of cast iron and components for the bridges of KAMAZ trucks in the Kostanay Industrial Zone, as well as the opening of a tire production facility in the city of Saran, Karaganda region.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexander Morozov, General Director of KAMAZ PJSC Sergey Kogogin and Chair of the Board of AgromashHoldingKZ JSC Andrey Lavrentiev took part in the ceremony of laying the stone for the construction of factories for the production of cast iron and components for bridges of trucks in Kostanay.

The design capacity of the joint ventures will amount to 40 thousand cast components (cylinder blocks, cylinder heads and one-piece girder of the axle housing for trucks) and 86 thousand gearboxes for the main gears of the driving axles of trucks per year. The total investment is 150.7 billion tenge. About 1,200 new jobs will be created, taking into account related industries. The level of localization of products will reach 60-70%. The completion of the construction is scheduled for 2023.

The implementation of the projects will introduce Kazakhstan into the global technological chain of suppliers of the largest manufacturer of trucks in the CIS market — KAMAZ PJSC — 95% of products will be exported.

In the presence of Askar Mamin and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Akimat of the Karaganda region and PJSC TATNEFT signed an investment memorandum on the implementation of a project for the production of automobile tires in the city of Saran, Karaganda region.

The production capacity of the plant will be 3 million tires for passenger vehicles and 500,000 tires for commercial vehicles and buses. Over 1 thousand new jobs will be created. The total investment will be about 111 billion tenge. The implementation of the project is scheduled for 2022.

The Head of Kazakh Government noted that new projects in the automotive industry indicate a concrete practical expansion of industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia.

"The volume of production in the automotive industry since the beginning of the year has increased by 51.8%, investments in fixed assets have increased more than 6.6 times to 9.4 billion tenge," Mamin said.

The Head of Government was presented with joint Kazakh-Russian projects of opening a plant for the collection and utilization of agricultural machinery, as well as the KAMAZ engineering center.

As part of the event, eight agreements were signed on the implementation of joint projects in the automotive industry, including an agreement on the industrial assembly of components for vehicles and agricultural machinery, investment contracts, financial leasing agreements, long-term supplies, a memorandum of cooperation on research and development and training for mechanical engineering.

During the working trip, the Prime Minister Mamin discussed the prospects for further development of cooperation in the automotive industry with the leadership of the Russian companies KAMAZ and Tatneft, the Uzbek UzAuto, and also got acquainted with the activities of SaryarkaAvtoprom JSC, including the upcoming to the production of new models of the JAC car.
