About 34.5 billion tenge to be allocated for restoring the city of Arys — Alikhan Smailov

This was announced by the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance Alikhan Smailov in the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan.

According to preliminary calculations, as of July 1, 2019, about 34.5 billion tenge is needed to restore the city of Arys, including 4.5 billion tenge for paying 100,000 tenge to every resident of Arys.

Smailov reported that for these purposes, 2 billion tenge was allocated from the reserve of the Government, 1 billion tenge — from the budget of the Turkistan region, 1.5 billion tenge — as humanitarian aid.

“It is necessary to restore 7,709 residential houses, of which 49 houses were completely destroyed. 19.2 billion tenge will be allocated to restore the houses, of which 50% of the funds are planned to be provided from the budgets of the regions, 50% — from the Government,” Smailov emphasized.

It is planned to allocate 7 billion tenge for the restoration of 66 social facilities (54 educational, 8 health, 4 sports) of Arys, of which 6 billion tenge will be allocated by the Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund and 1 billion tenge — by the business community of the republic.

Smailov added that 2.2 billion tenge will be allocated for the restoration of electrical networks, heat supply and infrastructure repair.

“1.7 billion tenge will be allocated for the repair of 34 administrative buildings. Funds for these purposes are planned to be allocated from the reserve of the Government,” the minister concluded.
