Prime Minister Askar Mamin met with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Feb. 25 in Uzbekistan

“The First President - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, together with you laid the foundation for bringing bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to a new level of strategic cooperation. The Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, confirming continuity as a fundamental principle of foreign policy, pays special attention to the development of mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan,” Mamin said.

The prime minister of Kazakhstan noted the high dynamics in the development of bilateral cooperation.

Uzbekistan is the most important trade partner of Kazakhstan in the region. By the end of 2019, bilateral trade reached $4.1 billion. By the end of 2020, it is planned to increase trade to $5 billion. Today, more than 3 thousand joint ventures operate in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

During the negotiations, a wide range of issues was discussed for the further development of cooperation in the trade, economic, investment, water and energy, transit and transport, construction, agricultural, textile, automotive, cultural and humanitarian, tourism, environmental and other fields.

The parties emphasized that the strong desire of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to expand and strengthen strategic partnership is demonstrated by the practice of holding the Forum of Interregional Cooperation between the two countries.

The I Forum of Interregional Cooperation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held on Nov. 16, 2018, in Shymkent.

The II Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will be held on Feb. 26, 2020, in the city of Urgench, Khorezm Region, on the theme “Cooperation of regional business in the agro-industrial, industry and tourism areas.”

The event will be attended by over 300 people - the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin and the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, heads of state bodies, regions, as well as representatives of business circles of the two countries. According to the results of the Forum, it is planned to sign over 40 inter-regional and commercial agreements.
