Prime Minister Askar Mamin gets acquainted with state of hydraulic structures and implementation of development programs in Almaty region

As part of his working trip, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin inspected the development of agriculture and water management, as well as housing and engineering infrastructure of the Almaty region.

In Aksu district, Mamin got acquainted with the reconstruction of the Kyzylagash reservoir with a design capacity of 42 million m³. In the upcoming growing season, the reservoir will expand the area of ​​irrigated land and provide additional water to about 7 thousand hectares.

The head of government was informed about projects to modernize the irrigation system of the Almaty region. There are 356 hydraulic structures in the region; the length of irrigation networks is 16.6 thousand km. Planned work on the repair and reconstruction of canals, dams and waterworks will make it possible to use 137.8 thousand hectares of irrigated land by 2028. This year, 2.1 billion tenge was allocated from the regional budget for the development of water facilities, of which 1.4 billion tenge were allocated for the overhaul of nine facilities. Reconstruction of irrigation networks at the expense of the Islamic Development Bank is being carried out in the Eskeldy, Aksusk, Alakol and Koksu distrcts.

The prime minister examined the experimental demonstration fields, dairy farms and the material and technical base of the leading peasant farms in the Balkhash, Eskeldin and Talgar districts of the Almaty region. Mamin was informed about the development of domestic research institutes in the fields of crop production, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, projects in intensive farming, horse breeding, expansion of meat and milk production, as well as the development of deep processing of agricultural products.

In 2020, 42 investment projects are planned to be implemented in the agro-industrial complex of Almaty region. The gross agricultural output in the four months of 2020 grew by 2.3%, food production – by 14.2%, export of processed agricultural products – by 27.6% compared to the corresponding period in 2019.

In Taldykorgan, the prime minister inspected the development of housing infrastructure, the progress of gas supply to the region, as well as the implementation of the Nurly Zhol, Employment Roadmap 2020 and others.
