Prime Minister Askar Mamin meets with head of Chevron

Prime Minister Askar Mamin discussed the prospects for cooperation in the oil production sector with the Chairman of the Board of the Chevron Michael Wirth.

The head of government noted that over the past years, Kazakhstan has built close and mutually beneficial cooperation with Chevron. Askar Mamin expressed interest in increasing the share of local content in the company's procurement in ongoing projects.

The parties discussed a project for the future expansion of Tengizchevroil worth $36.8 billion. Completion of the project in 2022 will increase TCO’s production by 12 million tons per year.

Wirth presented information on the activities of Chevron and emphasized the productivity of the company's projects in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan’s cooperation with Chevron is carried out under the projects: Tengiz (50%), Karachaganak (18%) and the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (15%). In addition to the extraction and transportation of energy, Chevron operates the Atyrau Polyethylene Pipe Plant and the Atyrau Pipe Fittings Plant, etc.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev, Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas JSC Alik Aidarbayev and Akim of Atyrau region Nurlan Nogayev.
