Single online platform for monitoring prices of socially important goods to be created in Kazakhstan

During the Government session chaired by the Prime Minister Askar Mamin, issues of ensuring price stability for socially significant goods were considered.

The ministers of trade and integration Bakhyt Sultanov, national economy — Ruslan Dalenov, agriculture — Saparkhan Omarov reported on current prices for food products, the activities of stabilization funds and measures taken to prevent price increases. Akim of the North Kazakhstan region Kumar Aksakalov, Zhambyl — Askar Myrzakhmetov reported on the work in the regions.

In order to stabilize and maintain the prices of socially important food products and gradually eliminate the reasons for their growth, a set of measures was developed that entered into force on Aug. 16, 2012. Among them are the ability of domestic producers to place their goods in all retail outlets, limiting the trade allowance for socially significant food products no more than 15% and a ban on the collection of remuneration from suppliers, curbing the seasonal increase in prices for 4 main commodity items (onions, potatoes, carrots, cabbage). Along with this, the regions will ensure the construction of wholesale distribution centers, retail facilities and the modernization of markets.

Prime Minister Askar Mamin noted that the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at a recent meeting in Akorda, emphasized the importance of the issue of containing prices for socially significant food products.

“Akims should keep the issue of preventing price increases under special control and conduct daily monitoring, taking prompt measures,” Askar Mamin said. Akimats were instructed to speed up work on the approval of model regional rules for the implementation of mechanisms to stabilize prices for socially important food products and to start purchasing products in stabilization funds in advance. The accounts and deposits of the social entrepreneurship corporations have 3.7 billion tenge for the implementation of procurement interventions.

In order to further improve the efficiency of the work of stabilization funds, as the prime minister noted, it is necessary to audit the activities of stabilization funds, reformat their work and promptly carry out procurement for commodity interventions. It is also entrusted to develop a program for the production of the 10 most socially significant products. This will be an important factor in containing prices.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers instructed the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan to ensure the development of a unified online platform as soon as possible. With the help of this system, citizens will be able to monitor prices for socially significant food products in the context of regions and specific stores online, as well as directly participate in price monitoring.
