Fund for emergency return of tourists to start operating in Kazakhstan, Minister of Investments and Development of Kazakhstan Zhenis Kassymbek said.

"As a system measure we introduce a system of guaranteed rights for citizens by organizing a separate fund, which will deal with return of tourists on default of tour operators' duties. The Government passed these documents a month ago. I think that this system should start to fully operate in winter tourist period and next summer," he said during a press conference in the CCS.

He reminded that in last three or four tourist seasons there were several incidents with tourist companies as "Gulnar Travel". This year due to problems of the Skybus Airlines more than 320 Kazakhstanis were stuck in Batumi.

However, the Head of the Ministry of Investments and Development of Kazakhstan noted growth of inbound and domestic tourism. According to him, over the past two or three years, a number of tourists from Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, UK has been increasing. Currently, 20 economically developed countries set a visa-free regime. From January 2017 our country will launch visa-free regime for 48 countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and other politically stable countries.

The growth of domestic tourism in the first half amounted to about 6% comparing to the same period of last year. Almaty, Alakol, Bukhtarma, Burabay remain to be popular destinations.

"From this prospective, we adjust plans for infrastructure construction in these areas. Number of hotels grows. If 10 years ago, in Kazakhstan there were only 871 hotels, today we have 2445 hotels. By the end of 2015 the volume of rendered services amounted to 73 billion tenge. In the framework of Expo there is approved a list of tour routes: in total 73 - that cover all main attractions of the country," he said.
