In May the agreement on export of Kazakhstan’s meat products to China will be signed, and the process of delivering meat products is already running. This was reported by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kairat Aituganov at the Government press conference.

K. Aituganov noted that today Kazakhstan already supplies China with grain via transit corridor. Many manufacturers are coming out with proposals to begin exporting to China a number of products, including meat and honey.

According to the Deputy Minister, Kazakhstan’s honey is highly valued in China and today work is underway to begin its delivery.

Where honey delivery is planned for May, the export of meat products faced some barriers.

“There are limitations by China on issues of FMD and lack of certification from Kazakhstan’s enterprises. Before accepting Kazakhstan’s products, the Chinese side has tested our enterprises in accordance with their requirements,” – K. Aituganov said.

In May 2016, a joint action plan was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China in the field of phyto-sanitary cooperation.

Work under this plan involves three steps. The first step requires acquiring access to the Chinese market. Immediately after signing the plan the Veterinary Service of Kazakhstan conducted an audit on FMD issues. Today sees increased control of issues regarding FMD.

The second step involves our enterprises to be inspected by the Chinese inspection system for livestock production.

The third step is the inspection of individual companies for their inclusion in the register of companies authorized to export to China.

“In August 2016, during his visit the representative of the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China voiced the requirements for Kazakhstan’s enterprises to be included in the Registry,” – Deputy Minister said.

According to K. Aituganov, positive audit results, as well as compliance with all requirements of the Chinese side will allow to lift all restrictions on export of meat products in the near future.
