The Ministry of Defence held a meeting of the Deputy Minister of Defence Major-General Talgat Mukhtarov with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Kazakhstan Ichiro Kawabata.

During the meeting the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation. Another topic raised for discussion was the signing of the Memorandum between Ministries of Defence of Kazakhstan and Japan in the field of defense cooperation and collaboration. The draft document has been developed and approved earlier.

Kazakhstan is actively developing military and military-technical cooperation on the basis of foreign policy and economic viability with the aim of ensuring Kazakhstan’s military security by finding balanced solutions to rising issues.

Currently the Kazakhstan, Japan military cooperation is in a developing stage, with increased activity being seen in the fields of military medicine and peacekeeping training. These directions are of mutual interest within the developing cooperation between the Defence Ministries of both countries.
