In Kazan, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev took part in the regular meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Governments, which discussed cooperation in various spheres of the Commonwealth's economy.

During the narrow-format meeting, the Heads of Governments discussed the intensification of cooperation in innovation, nuclear energy, transport security, geodesy, radio navigation, counteracting the production of counterfeit products, and protecting intellectual property.

The Council’s work continued in an expanded format, participants of which discussed the agreement on joint use of the experimental complex on the basis of Kazakhstan's material science tokamak, as well as the plan of priority measures for implementing the Transport Security Strategy in the territories of the CIS member countries for international transport for 2017-2019.

The meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Governments resulted in the signing of a number of documents, in particular: On the Set of Measures for 2017-2019 for implementing the Interstate Program for Innovative Cooperation, the Agreement on convergence of approaches to regulatory and normative-technical regulation, conformity assessment, standardization, accreditation and metrological support in the field of atomic energy use for peaceful purposes.

In addition, the meeting resulted in signing of the Agreement on cooperation in countering the production and distribution of counterfeit products, the Protocol on amending the agreement on cooperation in legal protection and intellectual property protection and the creation of an Interstate Council for Legal Protection and Intellectual Property Protection.

Also, documents were signed on the CIS Countries Interstate Radiation Program and implementation of the decision of the Council of the CIS Heads of Governments of September 16, 2016 on the CIS Economic Court.
