Astana is hosting the V session of the joint board of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

The meeting covers the training of specialists in the field of monitoring and forecasting emergencies, cross-border cooperation on the response to emergencies of a transboundary nature, matters of ensuring safety in water bodies, sharing experiences on preventing mudslides and using space monitoring data, preparing forces and facilities for responding to possible earthquakes , extinguishing fires.

“The main tasks of the joint board are to determine the strategic directions and forms of joint activities, the order of interaction of emergency agencies and units of the three countries aimed at preventing and eliminating emergencies, including in the border areas of the countries participating in the joint board, the organization of interaction in vocational training and improving the skills of specialists, preparing the population for action in extreme conditions, developing programs and teaching aids for this line of activity, the improvement and development of the material-and-technical base, development and implementation of joint programs in the field of ensuring the safety of the population,” – Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kalmukhanbet Kassymov said in his speech.

Following the meeting, it is planned to adopt a protocol detailing the instructions for each cluster of issues for the further cooperation, exchange of experience and implementation of measures in the field of preventing and eliminating natural and man-made emergencies.

The tripartite joint meeting is attended by Minister of Emergency Situations of Belarus Vladimir Vashchenko, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kalmukhanbet Kassymov, Minister for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters of the Russian Federation Vladimir Puchkov.
