Today, as part of his working trip to South Kazakhstan region, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev has held a meeting with the participation of the region’s public on developing tourism, entrepreneurship, employment and increasing the mobility of labor resources.

The event was attended by heads of state agencies, the Akimat of South Kazakhstan region, Deputy Akims of regions, representatives of industry associations, directors of employment centers, representatives of the NCE, NGOs, and the media.

Akim of South Kazakhstan region Zhanseit Tuimebayev reported on the on the region’s tourism development. Minister of National Economy Timur Suleimenov reported on the measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to develop entrepreneurship in the country. Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Tamara Duissenova presented a report on measures to ensure employment and stimulate internal migration. Minister of Education and Science Yerlan Sagadiyev reported on the implementation of the Serpin social project. Minister of Culture and Sport Arystanbek Mukhamediuly reported on the current challenges and development prospects in the tourism sector.

The meeting also heard reports made by President of the Association “Center for the Development of Tourism Industry of South Kazakhstan region” Gulmira Akhberdiyeva, Coordinator for Central Asia of the UN International Organization for Migration Dejan Keserovich, Deputy Akim of North Kazakhstan region Askar Sakipkereyev, First Deputy Akim of East Kazakhstan region Nurymbet Saktaganov, as well as the participant of the Productive Employment and Mass Entrepreneurship Development Program who migrated from South Kazakhstan to North Kazakhstan region, Serik Zhanaliyev.

Participants of the meeting also exchanged views on the prospects for creating a single tourism project on the Great Silk Road and the advantages of labor mobility.

In the course of the meeting it was highlighted that in December of last year, on the instruction of the Head of State, the Government adopted the Productive Employment and Mass Entrepreneurship Development Program, which focuses on mass training of the unemployed and self-employed population in professional skills demanded on the labor market. The program also covers issues of increasing labor mobility.

In addition, the Concept of Migration Policy was adopted, aimed at updating the internal migration situation, in view of the current situation in the economic development of the regions.

Regarding the development and support of business, the Government keeps this area under special control, in particular the issues raised by the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs at various venues, including during the working visits of the Prime Minister to the regions of the country, have been included in the Register of Systemic Problems. This register consists of 513 issues, 442 of which have already been resolved; the remaining issues are being worked through.

At the same time, one of the most promising areas of development was defined to be the tourism industry.

The draft Concept for the Development of Tourism Industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2020 covers the plans to create 6 tourism clusters, in which South Kazakhstan region is included in the cluster “Revival of the Great Silk Road”.

This cluster includes the region’s sites, such as the city of Turkestan, Otrar and Saryagash districts, the reserves of Aksu-Jabagly and Karatau, the Sayram Ugam state national park.

In conclusion, it was stressed that all the announced measures are designed to create the necessary conditions for the development of the region's economic potential and will be implemented on a systematic basis.
