During today’s Government meeting, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev has raised the issue of the situation on the country’s fuel market and took a number of disciplinary measures against those responsible for fuel shortages.

Bakytzhan Sagintayev noted that there is a deficit in the regions, gasoline is limited and sold by coupons, resulting in a price increase. In this regard, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan heard the reports of Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev and Chairman of the Board of NC KazMunayGas JSC Sauat Mynbayev.

Bakytzhan Sagintayev stressed that he considers the given explanations with reference to the increase in the share of imports and the exchange rate as an evasion of his direct duties and responsibilities.

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan stressed that due to the fact that it is the President of the country who takes disciplinary measures against the members of the Government, today the Head of State will receive a request to reprimand Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev.

However, disciplinary decisions on Deputy Ministers are the prerogative of the Prime Minister. Therefore, regarding Deputy Minister of Energy Asset Magauov, who is in charge of this sector, a decision was made to relieve him of his post. The Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan was instructed to prepare an appropriate order.

Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC Umirzak Shukeyev was instructed to in due course take measures to impose a disciplinary penalty in the form of a reprimand to the Chairman of the Board of NC KazMunayGas JSC Sauat Mynbayev for improper performance of his duties, and take measures to terminate the powers of the First Deputy Chairman of the Board NC KazMunayGas JSC Daniyar Berlibayev due to improper performance of duties.
