Today’s Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev has discussed the measures to prepare specialists for work in the realities of digital economy.

Minister of Education and Science Yerlan Sagadiyev reported that within the framework of improving the IT-competence in secondary education, schools are introducing an elective course – Robotics. In 2016-2017, 372 robotics clubs were opened, as well as 397 robotics rooms in 397 schools. 2500 computer science teachers have passed proficiency refresher courses on robotics, the features of organizing theoretical and out-of-class IT classes in the reality of implementing robotics.

As part of improving IT-competence in vocational and professional education, this year introduces a new specialty “information security”, in accordance with the proposals of employers. Enrollment will take place beginning September 1, 2018.

Currently, VET organizations are conducting courses in the field “Informatics and Computer Science” within the framework of two specialties: "Computer Science and Software (by Types)", which includes eight qualifications, and "Information Systems (by application areas)" - three qualifications.

Within the framework of the Information Inequality Elimination Program, more than 9700 teachers and masters of vocational training have passed advanced training. With the sponsorship of Nurecom, 360 masters of vocational training and teachers of specialist disciplines have passed advanced courses and received certificates at Pasco, Boxford, Promethean, LG foreign companies.

All 16 regions have created education centers for the application of interactive education equipment, which gave advanced training to more than 3564 engineering and pedagogical workers.

In the framework of international projects of the RKK Rogaland (Norway), In Went (Germany), GTZ (Germany), 360 pedagogical workers received advanced training at the leading foreign training centers.

In addition, teachers and masters of vocational training conduct professional skills courses on-line. The portal ( has a database of online lessons, including from VET teachers.

Regarding the improvement of IT-competence in higher education, personnel training is conducted in the following specialties: Informatics, Information Systems, Automation and Management, Computer Science and Software, Mathematical and Computer Modeling, Radio Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications in 84 universities and Information Security Systems in seven universities.

In the framework of the Bolashak scholarship, 951 people completed their studies in the field of ​​Information Technology and Systems, or 10.1% of the total number of graduates, including under programs: bachelor's degree - 510, specialty - 20, magistracy - 386, doctorate - 6, internship - 29. Currently, 59 people are learning ​​Information Technology and Systems in Master's programs in the USA, Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Singapore, Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan and Russia.

Since 2016, the discipline "Information and communication technologies in English" has been included in the compulsory component of the cycle of general educational disciplines in the bachelor's degree standard. In this connection, a basic textbook on this discipline has been developed. Three hundred university computer science teachers passed intensive language courses.

Educational programs of universities are developed by universities independently within the framework of existing standards. At the same time, foreign partner universities and employers are involved in the development of educational programs. In 2015 and 2016, 11 basic universities-participants of the IIDSP have developed 48 innovative educational programs.

Since the beginning of the 2017-2018 academic year, all universities have updated their educational programs, taking into account the approved 10 professional standards in the field of IT.

Also, online education is gaining popularity. Thus, 8 universities have created a consortium on the basis of the Al-Farabi KazNU to promote MOOC (mass open online courses). In the current year, four more universities have joined this consortium.
