The plenary session of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan has adopted the Law “On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Kingdom of Norway on International Road Transportations”.

Presenting the draft Agreement, Minister of Investments and Development Zhenis Kassymbek noted that the document sets the legal norms for carrying out road transportations. In accordance with the terms of the Agreement, two-way transit transportations, as well as transportations to and out of third countries are carried out on the basis of permits.

“At present, road transportations between the two countries are carried out by third country carriers – Belarusian and Russian transportation companies. In 2016, the volume of cargo transportation by road between Kazakhstan and Norway increased 53% and amounted to 1.5 thousand tonnes. This is more than 100 hauls,” – Zh. Kassymbek said.

The Minister stressed that the ratification of this Agreement will allow Kazakhstani motor carriers taking advantage of additional workloads. Answering the questions of Deputies, Zh. Kassymbek said that unlike ordinary freight, the permits for the transportation of which are received within a day, permits for haulage of large-scale cargo are issued within 5 work days.
