Today, as part of his visit to Almaty, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev visited the public reception office OpenAlmaty, which provides comprehensive support to the population and reviewed the results of reconstruction of city streets, as well as with plans to modernize the transport system in Almaty.

During his visit to the OpenAlmaty public reception office, Bakytzhan Sagintayev examined the coworking center SmArt.Point, and also got acquainted with the work of the information portal and call center.

Acting Chairman of the Board of Almaty City Development Center JSC R. Assaubayev reported to the Prime Minister on the activities of OpenAlmaty, spoke about the services rendered here, the involved state bodies and projects implemented at the premises of the coworking center SmArt.Point.

It is worth noting that the new service OpenAlmaty has united all city services for solving real-life situations of the population and rendering state services to the citizens. The portal offers residents useful information: algorithms for solving various situations, work plans of city services and contacts of public utility providers in Almaty.

After that, the Prime Minister visited Panfilov and Zhibek Zholy streets, which were reconstructed as per the design of the Danish architect Jan Gehl.

Deputy Akim of Almaty S. Makezhanov reported on the conducted works - the renovation of the facades of buildings within the framework of a single architectural style and planting of tall trees. In addition, athletic fields and playgrounds, as well as an effective water disposal system were built here.

Note that this reconstruction is part of a large project to create pedestrian streets, initiated this summer by Almaty Akimat. According to the plan, the "Arbat" (Zhibek Zholy from Kunaev to Zheltoksan), a section of Panfilov street and "Astana" square will be full-pedestrian. The streets of Gogol and Kabanbai batyr will become half-pedestrian.

After, B. Sagintayev examined new cars and special equipment of the Almaty Akimat. Deputy Akim M. Daribayev reported on a comprehensive plan to organize road traffic, on the work of the Onai automated payment system, as well as the city's anti-crisis program.

As was reported to the Prime Minister, this year 146 km of road surface will be repaired and 97 thousand m² of pavements will be built, 14.7 km of irrigation networks will be constructed and 42.2 km will be reconstructed on 57 streets and more than 32 km of heating networks. At the same time, more than 380 km of plumbing and sewerage are being laid with connecting them to more than 20 thousand houses in the micro districts Aigerim, Elzhan-1, -2, Karasu, Akbulak, Darkhan, Kurylysshy, Ozhet, Trudovik, Shanyrak-1, -2, Altyn Besik, Dostyk and others.

For reference: Jan Gehl is known as the premier researcher of urban public space, the psychological aspects of its use by people, optimal solutions by means of architecture and urban planning of typical problems of this sphere.

The architect studied the features of Almaty and developed key recommendations on how to make the metropolis comfortable for Almaty residents and tourists. So, in eight districts of the city in 2015, a pilot project has been launched to create pedestrian zones, recreation areas, sports and children's playgrounds. Also, the city's network of bicycle paths was significantly expanded.
