The agreement on strengthening security measures at the border was reached during the working visit of Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Akylbek Kamaldinov to the International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation (ICBC) "Khorgos".

In the course of the visit, A. Kamaldinov visited the Kazakhstan part of the ICBC and got acquainted with its current activities. He also held a working meeting with representatives of the border, police, and customs services of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as with the management of ICBC "Khorgos" JSC.

In addition, he visited the Chinese part of the Center, where he held a separate meeting with the leadership of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the PRC and the Administration of the Chinese part of the ICBC.

During the talks, the parties discussed issues of ensuring the rule of law and security of the citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the territory of the ICBC, as well as our citizens visiting the XUAR of China. "We agreed to establish a confidential and constructive interaction between law enforcement agencies,” – the statement said.

In conclusion, they agreed to discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation during the next meeting of the Security Subcommittee in December this year, as well as during political consultations between Kazakhstan and China.

The parties also discussed issues of interregional and trade and economic cooperation, harmonious development, and security in the territory of the ICBC.
