On May 31, 2018, in Almaty First Deputy Prime Minister Askar Mamin took part in the official launch of the construction of the “Big Almaty Ring Road” (BAKAD).

The event was also attended by Akim of Almaty region A. Batalov, Minister of Investments and Development Zh. Kassymbek, Deputy Akim of Almaty M. Daribayev.

First Deputy Prime Minister A. Mamin emphasized the significance of the launch of construction of the Big Almaty Ring Road, a project implemented on the instructions of the Head of State N. Nazarbayev.

“BAKAD is the largest infrastructure project implemented though public-private partnership, in which leading world companies take part,” – A. Mamin said and stressed that “the project reflects a qualitatively new level of economic development, interaction of the state and the private sector”.

The dynamic development of Almaty and intensive growth of the population of the megalopolis form the demand for the expansion of transport infrastructure, creation of new jobs.

“The construction of BAKAD is a new stage in the infrastructural development of not only the region but also of Kazakhstan as a whole,” – the First Deputy Prime Minister said in this regard and set the task of completing the project in 2021.

Akim of Almaty region A. Batalov said that in the region all the necessary conditions are created for the successful implementation of the infrastructure project. It is planned to create about two thousand jobs, almost 90% of the local population will be involved in the construction of the highway.

A. Batalov assured that on the part of the local executive power, in the future, there will be full support for the construction of the BAKAD.

According to Minister of Investments and Development Zh. Kassymbek, in February 2018, the Concession Agreement was signed for the construction and operation of the “Big Almaty Ring Road” with the consortium “Alsim Alarko - Makyol - SK - Korea Expressway”.

The six-lane bypass road around Almaty with a length of 66 km will correspond to the parameters of the I technical grade. Along with the construction of the highway, it is planned to build new bridges, transport interchanges and overhead roads.

The project will improve the quality of transport services, ensure road safety, reduce the negative impact of road transport on the environment.

During his stay in the region A. Mamin held a meeting on the implementation of the project “Construction of four satellite towns in the Almaty region (G4 City)”.

Currently in the satellite city of Gate City, water, electricity, gas supply and transport communications facilities have been built. In the industrial zone "Bereke" it is planned to implement 12 large projects with the investment volume of over 100 billion tenge and create more than 1500 jobs. According to the Action Plan for the development of the first stage of the residential development of the satellite city Gate City, the launch of housing construction is scheduled for 2019.

“The infrastructure of the city is now ready, the industrial, residential and logistics zone is being developed. All the necessary conditions have been created for the implementation of the project,” – A. Mamin said and noted the need for further active work on attracting direct investments.

The discussion also covered the development of tourism in Almaty region. 14 priority projects are included in the National tour-fixing map, of which 7 projects are planned to be implemented in the region.

“The Head of State attaches great importance to the development of tourism in Kazakhstan,” - the First Deputy Prime Minister said and gave a number of specific instructions on the development of the skiing cluster in Almaty region.
