Today, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev and Head of the Executive Office of the President Adilbek Dzhaksybekov took part in an extraordinary session of the city Maslikhat of Shymkent.

Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev read a letter from the Head of State to the Deputies of the city Maslikhat proposing to appoint Gabidulla Abdrakhimov to the post of Akim of Shymkent. The Deputies unanimously supported the candidacy proposed by the President.

G. Abdrakhimov was born on January 23, 1975 in South Kazakhstan region. He has two degrees in Economics and Public Administration. He speaks Kazakh, Russian, English and German. In different years he held important leadership positions. He headed the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service, the Agency for the Protection of Competition of the Republic of Kazakhstan, worked as the Head of the Office of the Prime Minister, Deputy Head of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akim of Shymkent. The last post was Secretary of the Nur Otan Party.

Following the results of the extraordinary session of the city Maslikhat, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev and Head of the Executive Office Adilbek Dzhaksybekov held a meeting with the city's active core, where they presented the new Akim.

Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev recalled that by the decision of the Head of State, Shymkent, along with Astana and Almaty, became one of Kazakhstan’s cities with a population of over one million people. To date, Shymkent is a dynamically developing region, all conditions for the development of SMEs, tourism, transport and logistics have been created here. In the future, Shymkent should become a large agglomeration along with the Turkestan region and bring the economy of the region to a new level.

During the presentation, the Prime Minister noted the great experience of G. Abdrakhimov in various high level leadership positions, including the post of Akim of Shymkent, and also wished success in his work. B. Sagintayev expressed confidence that the new Akim will meet the high expectations of the Head of State.

Pensioner Aldanazar Kurmanbekov made a speech on behalf of the city public.

“During the years of Kazakhstan’s Independence, the city of Shymkent became a large industrial megalopolis with developed infrastructure. Given its new status, the city is on the path of even greater development. For this we are infinitely grateful to Yelbasy,” - he said.
