Today, on the instructions of the Head of State, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev arrived in Almaty region with a working visit. Here, meetings will be held with workers in the fields of education and health care, as well as with the business community on the implementation of the President’s Address “Growing Welfare of Kazakh Citizens: Increase in Income and Quality of Life.”

During his working trip, the Prime Minister will visit a number of major infrastructure facilities. On the border with China, he will inspect the work of the Nur Zholy automobile checkpoint, the checkpoint of the ICBC “Khorgos” and the course of construction of border buildings. Also, Bakytzhan Sagintayev will familiarize himself with the work of the international center for cross-border cooperation, which will be commissioned next year, and with the master plan for the development of the new city “Nurkent”, designed to accommodate 100 thousand people.

In the regional center, he will visit new social and cultural infrastructure facilities. Thus, during the inspection of the technical school-lyceum, the Prime Minister will get acquainted with the quality of educational services and work on its further improvement in the region. At the Business Service Center, he will inspect the socio-economic development of the region, the implementation of the President’s Five Social Initiatives, including gas infrastructure issues, as well as issues of creating the necessary conditions for attracting investments from TNCs, expanding the application of PPP and developing internal and external tourism.

Gross regional product (GRP) of Almaty region in the first half-eyar amounted to 1.09 trillion tenge. The share of the region's GRP in the National volume is 4.4%. In the structure of the GRP, the share of industry is 24.9%, agriculture - 8.9%, construction - 7.3%, trade - 10.9%, transport and storage - 16.5%, information and communication - 0.7% , real estate transactions - 5.5%, other - 25%.

Upon arrival in the region B. Sagintayev examined the new terminal of Taldykorgan airport, which was put into operation this spring. The facility is intended for comprehensive year-round handling of passengers traveling via domestic and international airlines, as well as those who see off and meet.

In addition, Akim of the Almaty region A. Batalov presented projects for the development of the airport of Usharal and shore protection of Lake Alakol.

Thus, last year, the Akimat of the Almaty Region completed the construction of the terminal building of the Usharal Airport. From June of this year, Astana-Usharal and Taldykorgan-Usharal flights are operated three times a week, Almaty-Usharal five times a week. At the moment, the runway is being reconstructed, which will allow the airport to serve Boeing class aircraft.

The development of the coast of Lake Alakol, which this year was visited by more than one million tourists, continues through comprehensive work on infrastructure modernization. Construction of water supply and drainage systems on the shores of the Lake Alakol is planned for 2019: these are a sewage treatment plant with a length of 72.9 km and a water supply system for 50 km. In addition, there are plans to introduce new technologies for the construction of shore protection and mooring facilities. The fencing dam, according to the Akim of the region, will make it possible to protect the inhabitants of the villages of Koktum and Akshi from the damaging effects of the waves of Lake Alakol, which are more than 2.5 thousand people.

It should be noted that the measures taken for the development of tourism infrastructure, according to the regional Akimat, allowed in 2016 (452 ​​thousand people) to more than double the number of served tourists in Alakol district. In general, the number of tourists in the region for the year is 1.96 million people.
