Kazakh Foreign Minister of Erlan Idrissov presented the basic approaches of Kazakhstan to international problems during the UN General Assembly in New York.

Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan took part in high-level event on behalf of President of the Swiss Confederation D. Burkhalter - OSCE Chairman - "Ukrainian crisis, the OSCE and the future of European security."

In his speech, E. Idrissov expressed his concern about the fact that the crisis in Ukraine has led to numerous victims among the population, to mutual sanction. The Minister noted that Kazakhstan supports peace initiatives aimed at the speedy de-escalation of the conflict, including through the Minsk peace agreements. He also stressed the need to avoid further escalation of confrontation and mutual sanctions between the West countries and Russia, and called for finding solutions to problems and disagreements through non-conflict ways.

In addition, Minister of Foreign Affairs held a multilateral meeting with the foreign ministers of the CSTO member states, spoke the a meeting of the UN General Assembly on the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, the 7th Ministerial Meeting of the Member States of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) in the fifth day of his visit to New York, September 26, 2014.

During the meetings of Kazakh Foreign Minister with the foreign ministers of the Republic of Korea Yun Byung-se, Antigua and Barbuda - C. Fernandez, Austria - K. Sebastian, Haiti - D. Brutus, Guatemala - K. Morales, Mauritania - A Teguedi, Serbia - I. Dacic, Jamaica - A. Nicholson, the sides compared notes on major issues of cooperation and discussed cooperation in the framework of international organizations, Kazakhstan's bid for a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2017-2018, exchanged views on issues of international security.

In general, participation of the Kazakh delegation at the opening of high-level debate of the UN’s 69th session allowed to present the country's main approaches to solving most pressing problems facing humanity, to hold more than 50 bilateral and multilateral meetings, to move forward country’s priority solutions in the field of security and economic development. The visit confirmed the further growth of demand for Kazakhstan in international affairs as a responsible regional power, contributing to respond to global challenges consistently and objectively.
