Video Digest on Prime Minister Askar Mamin’s participation in XVIII meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO Member States in Tashkent

  • In Tashkent, Prime Minister Askar Mamin met with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During the negotiations, a wide range of issues related to the further development of cooperation in the trade, economic, investment, energy, transit and other areas was discussed. According to the results of 9 months of 2019, mutual trade between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan increased by 25% to $2.6 billion. In the coming years, it is planned to bring trade to $5 billion.
  • Askar Mamin attended a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. During the meeting in a narrow composition, the prime minister of Kazakhstan proposed to intensify work on the creation of the SCO Development Bank and the SCO Development Fund, jointly develop a roadmap to increase the share of national currencies in mutual settlements of the organization’s member states, and resume meetings of finance ministers and central bank heads SCO member states.
  • At an expanded meeting, the head of the Kazakh government emphasized the need to develop trade and economic cooperation in the format of multilateral dialogue between the SCO, EAEU, ASEAN and the EU. Askar Mamin invited SCO member countries to use the AIFC platform to test new financial products and technologies. In addition, the prime minister of Kazakhstan took the initiative to create a Council for the development of the digital economy.
  • As a result of the SCO CST meetings, 14 documents were adopted in a narrow and extended format, including a joint communique, a new version of the Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation Program, the Concept for Interaction of the SCO Member States' Rail Administrations in the Field of Railway Transport, Regulations of the SCO Economic Analytical Center Consortium, Program development of ecological well-being of the SCO cities and others.
  • Askar Mamin held a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Afghanistan, Abdullah Abdullah, during a visit to Tashkent to participate in a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO Member States. The meeting addressed issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation of Kazakhstan with Afghanistan, the participation of Kazakh business in the development of energy, construction, agriculture, the mining and oil and gas industry, and the transport industry of Afghanistan. The parties agreed to develop a dialogue on pressing issues of bilateral and regional cooperation.
  • On the sidelines of the council’s meeting, the prime minister of Kazakhstan met with the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang, with whom he discussed issues of trade and economic, industrial, investment, energy, transport and logistics cooperation, interaction in the areas of processing and production of agricultural products, electronic commerce, AIFC development.
