Job fair and public talk for young professionals — Meiram Pshembayev about features of VII Forum of Machine Builders

Sep. 12 at a press conference in the Government, a deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament, chairman of the Union of Mechanical Engineers of Kazakhstan Meiram Pshembayev spoke about the development of the mechanical engineering industry in the framework of the President’s Address, as well as about the VII Forum of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan held these days.

The VII Forum of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan is held Sep. 12-13, 2019, at the EXPO Congress Center in Nur-Sultan with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meetings are attended by over a thousand foreign delegates from more than 20 countries of the world such as Germany, USA, Japan, Italy, Czech Republic, Russia, China, etc.

The forum discusses such important and relevant topics as strategic directions for the development of the industry in the face of the challenges of the new era, issues of import substitution, stimulation of production, raising the status of young specialists, and discussing new approaches in the context of digitalization.

“Today, panel sessions are being held to discuss the Roadmap for the development of mechanical engineering of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2019-2024, issues on digitalization of the industry, improving the competitiveness of our industry,” Pshembayev informed.

Over the years of the forum, it has become a real dialogue platform for the state, business, and foreign partners. The forum provides an opportunity for Kazakhstani businessmen to find investors and attract high technology from countries where engineering is highly developed.

This year the feature of the meeting is that, taking into account the Year of Youth announced by the First President, Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, the main events will be devoted to the development of youth potential. In particular, a traditional job fair for students, a public talk for young professionals, and a robotics competition among schoolchildren are held.

Tomorrow, the Forum will host meetings in 9 sections.

In the Address to the people of Kazakhstan “Constructive Public Dialogue – the Basis of Stability and Prosperity of Kazakhstan,” the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to increase labor productivity by at least 1.7 times. It was also instructed, within the framework of the State Program for Industrial and Innovative Development, to develop a set of measures to support high-performance medium-sized businesses, including tax, financial, and administrative incentives.

As Pshembayev noted, in the Roadmap for the Development of Mechanical Engineering for 2019-2024, there are already measures to implement the indicated points of the President’s Address.

“The roadmap was developed with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of Kazakhstani enterprises, increasing the export potential, labor productivity,” said Pshembayev.

If, according to the results of 2018, the growth of the entire industry of Kazakhstan amounted to 4.1%, then the growth in the volume of engineering for the indicated period amounted to 14.1%, amounting to a record 1.1 trillion tenge in monetary terms. According to the results of 8 months of 2019, the growth in the volume of engineering production amounted to 18%.

“But we do not stop at these achievements. We have very big tasks in import substitution, organization of production of oil and gas equipment. Huge work remains to be done in agricultural engineering, the indicators of which we must raise at least 2–3 times in 5 years. We must provide our peasants with the means of production: combines, tractors, sowing complexes,” Pshembayev said. “This is not only assembly, but also body welding, painting, car disassembly. Kazakhstan spare parts include batteries and car rims. The task is not easy — in the next 2 years to increase production to 50%, that is, to increase another 20%.”
