Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov had a telephone conversation with Vice President of the Republic of Turkey Fuat Oktay.

Vice President of the Republic of Turkey Fuat Oktay congratulated Alikhan Smailov on his appointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Fuat Oktay expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic events of January and noted that Turkey is ready to provide the necessary support to Kazakhstan.

“The Republic of Turkey is a reliable strategic partner of Kazakhstan. The Government of Kazakhstan will continue to strengthen cooperation with Turkey in all areas of cooperation,” Smailov said.

Turkey is an important trade and economic partner of Kazakhstan. According to the results of 11 months of 2021, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $3.74 billion, which is 32% more than the figure for the same period in 2020 and significantly exceeds the pre-pandemic level of 2019. Over the years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Turkey has invested about $5 billion in the economy of Kazakhstan, investments of Kazakhstan in Turkey amounted to $1.1 billion.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey.
