Roman Sklyar holds online negotiations with heads of German companies

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar held an online meeting with heads of large German companies. The event was dedicated to the deepening of the Kazakh-German trade, economic and investment cooperation, the development of green economy, the implementation of joint projects, as well as measures to protect the rights of German investors.

The online meeting was attended by about 90 representatives of German companies and their branches in Kazakhstan, including CLAAS, Svevind Group, Volkswagen, Siemens, Deutsche Bank, Knauf, Deutsche Bahn AG, etc. In addition, the event was attended by the heads of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the FRG Dauren Karipov and in the FRG in Kazakhstan Monika Iwersen, representatives of federal state bodies of the FRG, branch and regional business associations.


In his speech, Roman Sklyar informed the partners from Germany about the current socio-political and socio-economic situation in Kazakhstan, as well as about the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the measures of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ensure sustainable economic growth, public welfare and protect the rights of investors.

He noted that cooperation with foreign partners for Kazakhstan is of particular importance and assured the German partners that all obligations and guarantees of Kazakhstan to investors and businesses will be strictly observed and implemented in full.

Representatives of the German business were informed about the development of a new concept of investment policy to increase the investment attractiveness of Kazakhstan in the face of increased ESG requirements, global energy and technological transition.

In turn, the Chair of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Oliver Hermes emphasized the importance of cooperation with Kazakhstan, the main partner of Germany in the region. The country has huge potential for sustainable energy production and is a desirable partner for Germany, he said. In this context, he stressed that the German business community supports the initiatives of the President of Kazakhstan and will contribute to the development of the country. Hermes also announced his intention to make a business visit to Kazakhstan, led by a German business delegation in May this year.

Representatives of the German business noted that the recent events did not affect the current and future investment plans of companies in Kazakhstan, and expressed support for the ongoing policy to improve the investment climate.

Ambassador Monica Iwersen, as well as the management of CLAAS, Deutsche Bahn and Svevind Energy, also supported the measures of the country's leadership to stabilize the situation and announced their intention to continue cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan on the implementation of joint projects.
