In Kazakhstan, total volume of container transit traffic increased by 37% — Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development

At a government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, the results of the country's socio-economic development and the execution of the republican budget for January-August 2020 were considered. Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Beibut Atamkulov reported on the results of work for 8 months of this year in the country's industrial sector.

As the minister informed, following the results of 8 months of this year, the volume of industrial production increased by 0.4%.

In the mining sector, production of non-ferrous ores increased by 1.4% due to an increase in the production of gold-bearing ore. Iron ore production grew by 0.9%. Due to the growth in consumption, the volume of coal products amounted to 101.2%.

“In the manufacturing industry, the IFO grew by 3.3%. The growth was provided by the following industries: non-ferrous metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, light industry, mechanical engineering, chemistry, etc. In non-ferrous metallurgy, production increased by 2.7% due to an increase in the production of gold bullion by 30%, silver in granules by 28%, and refined gold by 3%, primary aluminum by 1%, etc.,’’ said Atamkulov.

In ferrous metallurgy, the IFO amounted to 97.8%. There was a decrease in the production of steel, rails, steel pipes, cast iron.

In the chemical industry, production increased by 3.1%, which is associated with an increase in the production of disinfectants and mineral fertilizers.

“The engineering industry is showing good results. The volume of production in the industry increased by 16.3%. The production of vehicles, trailers and semitrailers increased by 51.8%, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 2.8%, the production of other vehicles by 101.4%, electrical equipment by 0.2%,’’ the minister informed.

In the pharmaceutical industry, production increased by 34.1%. The supply of medicines and medical devices has been increased within the framework of the Guaranteed volume of free medical care through the SK-Pharmacy Single Distributor.

In light industry, growth was 11% due to an increase in the production of textiles by 7.2% and leather products by 66.2%.

The volume index for transport in January - August this year amounted to 83.9%. The total volume of container transit traffic increased by 37% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 564 thousand twenty-foot equivalent.

According to the head of the department, the volume of cargo transportation by all types of transport decreased by 7.5% and amounted to 2.5 billion tons.

“The index of physical volume for construction in January-August this year amounted to 106.5%. Growth is ensured by increasing the volume of construction in the regions. Positive dynamics is observed in 16 regions,” the minister said.

For housing construction, following the results of 8 months, more than 8.1 million square meters were commissioned. meters of housing, which is 106.4% over the same period in 2019.

To date, a total of 71,457 housing units have been commissioned in the republic. The increase in the volume of housing commissioning in comparison with last year is noted in 14 regions.
